Located in the Halton Region, along the banks of Lake Ontario, Oakville is an inviting and delightful suburban town with a quiet neighbourhood feel. Nestled between the borders of Burlington to the east, Mississauga to the west and Milton to the North, Oakville is a quick commute to downtown Toronto, Pearson International Airport, Hamilton and the towns and villages in the outer-lying areas. With a population pushing 200,000, Oakville is a well-established, perfectly situated, idyllic location to call home.
Boasting a two-century history, Oakville’s roots radiate outward from its origins as a ship building community around the mouth of the 16 Mile Creek (Old Oakville). Oakville’s early years also included farming which developed the north end of Oakville, spreading northward and southward of Dundas Street. Many of Oakville’s most beautiful heritage homes can still be seen in Oakville’s brilliantly preserved historical areas.
In the 2012 Money Sense, Best Places to Live in Canada ranking of 190 cities, Oakville was ranked first for weather, second for household income and third for low crime rate; it placed 17 overall.
